Gesaria Armenian Research and Academic Services (GARAS) is run by a wife-and-husband duo of specialists in the history of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire and in the post-genocide Armenian diaspora.

Jennifer Manoukian earned her PhD in Armenian studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She earned her MA in Armenian studies from Columbia University and her BA in French and Middle Eastern studies from Rutgers University. Her research explores Armenian social and intellectual history, particularly the history of Armenian language practices and ideologies.
Jennifer is also a literary translator from Western Armenian. Her book-length translations include The Gardens of Silihdar by Zabel Yessayan, The Candidate by Zareh Vorpouni (a co-translation with Ishkhan Jinbashian) and The Princess by Nigoghos Sarafian (in progress). Daniel Ohanian holds a PhD in Armenian and Middle Eastern history from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He also holds a BA and MAs from York University in Toronto and Istanbul Bilgi University in Turkey. His research focuses on Armenians in the Ottoman Empire from 1660 onward. Daniel is a specialist in reading handwritten Armenian, Classical Armenian, and Ottoman Turkish.
Daniel volunteers as director of research for the Sara Corning Centre for Genocide Education in Toronto. His latest project for the Corning Centre is the republication of a newsletter created by genocide orphans in the 1920s. He also helps curate programs and exhibits that bring history alive for the public. For links to his publications, click here. |
